Tamiya 60790 Messerschmitt Bf 109 G in 1/72 scale captures one of the most important versions of the legendaryGerman fighter aircraft that was the backbone of the Luftwaffe during World War II. Designed by Willy Messerschmitt, the Bf 109 was characterised by its high speed, agility and ability to be continually improved, allowing it to remain competitive throughout the war.
The Bf 109 G "Gustav" version, produced from 1942 onwards, was equipped with the more powerful DB 605 engine, which allowed for better climb performance and higher speed. The aircraft had a reinforced structure, but this led to a slight increase in weight. Armament varied by variant, but included a standard 20 mm MG 151/20 cannon in the propeller axis and two 13 mm MG 131 machine guns above the engine. Some versions also carried additional cannons under the wings or rocket-propelled grenades to combat Allied bombers.
