The Nieuport 10 was originally designed as a two-seat reconnaissance aircraft, but due to its excellent flight characteristics it soon became the basis for the development of the first French fighters. This elegant biplane with its typical dropped upper wing was deployed mainly between 1915 and 1916 and served both in the French Air Force and with the Allies, such as Britain, Italy and Russia.
The Two Seater version was used for reconnaissance, artillery fire control and light combat missions. In some cases, it was improvised and armed with a machine gun, and an observer in the rear cockpit could defend the aircraft from attacks by enemy machines.
The Special Hobby 1/48 Nieuport 10 Two Seater kit features finely detailed plastic parts, a realistic cockpit for pilot and observer, landing gear and wing fairings.
