Special Hobby's 1/32 scale IAR-81 BoPi is a Romanian WWII multirole fighter and dive bomber. The IAR-81 was developed from the IAR-80 fighter and served in the Romanian Air Force on the Eastern Front and in the defense of the home territory against Allied air raids. The BoPi version was adapted to carry bombs under the fuselage. The model features detailed cockpit, landing gear and armament. The package does not include paint or glue needed for assembly.
Special Hobby's 1/32 scale IAR-81 BoPi captures one of the most important aircraft of the Romanian Air Force during WWII. This machine was based on the IAR-80 fighter and was modified for the role of a dive bomber with the ability to carry bombs under the fuselage on a special BoPi (Bombardament în Picaj - dive bomber) hanger.
The IAR-81 was deployed on the Eastern Front in the battles against the Soviet Union, escorting bombers and launching attacks on enemy ground targets. Later, it was also deployed to defend Romania against Allied bombing raids, particularly against American forces attacking the Ploesti oil fields. The aircraft was well manoeuvrable and had a powerful armament, but in the later stages of the war it struggled against superior Allied fighters.
The 1/32 scale model offers precise details of the cockpit, landing gear and armament, including authentic bomb armament typical of the BoPi version. A great choice for modelers interested in the lesser known but important WWII fighter aircraft.
Package does not include paint or glue needed for assembly.
