Luftfahrtverlag: Endkampf um das Reichsgebiet 1944-1945

Luftfahrtverlag: Endkampf um das Reichsgebiet 1944-1945  ISBN: 978-3-941437-32-6

Book in German and English. This large-format illustrated book is the first hardcover publication by Luftfahrtverlag-Start. On approx. 160 pages, the battle of the German army units for the Reich border is documented with unique and previously unseen photographic material.

The approx. 186 photos, 23 of which are in colour, are exclusively operational photos from the German side and not Allied post-war photos. The majority of the photos were taken by German soldiers during the final battles and therefore represent unique photographic documents from a time when film material was almost impossible to obtain and photography was rare. The black and white photos are supplemented by three rare colour photographs, which were also taken during the fighting. The visual material, which is supplemented by extensive and detailed texts and maps, is printed in the best possible quality on high-quality art paper.

The following main topics are included in the volume:

- Nemmersdorf and Goldap, the Russian advance across the East Prussian border.

- From Königsberg to Pillau - retreat battles in the Samland, East Prussia April 1945 (Panther photographs).

- The battles of the 1st Marine Rifle Division on the Oder in the Zehden bridgehead in February 1945.

- The battles in Silesia in spring 1945 (Panther photos).

- Fighting in the Breslau fortress.

- The battles of the "Hermann Göring" parachute armoured corps around Bautzen and Görlitz in April 1945 (Panther photos).

- The Führerbegleitdivision in the battles around Lauban (Panther photos).

- The SS Volunteer Brigade "Wallonien" and the 4th SS Police Division in the battle for Pomerania.

- SS-Panzer-Jäger-Abteilung 560 z.b.V. in action on the Oder (Hetzer photos).

- The battle against the Russian Oder bridgeheads near Küstrin and for the "Küstrin Fortress" (Panther and Hetzer photos).

- Heiligenbeil and Oxhöfter Kämpe - the battles for the cauldrons on the lagoon and the Bay of Gdansk.
