The Spitfire Mk.24 was the last developmental version of the iconic British Supermarine Spitfire fighter, deployed with the Royal Air Force in the late 1940s. The Mk.24 version was powered by the powerful Rolls-Royce Griffon 85 engine, which, combined with contra-rotating propellers and a reinforced structure, gave the aircraft exceptional performance.
The aircraft was equipped with four Hispano 20mm guns and the ability to carry bombs or rockets, making it a versatile fighting machine. Although it was already obsolete by the time of its deployment compared to jet types, the Spitfire Mk.24 was in service with the RAF until the early 1950s and represented a worthy end to the glorious era of propeller-driven fighters.
The Special Hobby 1/72 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.24 'Last of the Best' offers an accurate representation of this advanced variant with detailed cockpit, landing gear, armament and distinctive fuselage. The kit includes decals for post-war RAF machines, including distinctive markings.
The model is ideal for fans of classic British aircraft and the evolution of the Spitfire to its final form.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
