1/72 SAAB J-21A
Special Hobby's 1/72 scale model of the SAAB J-21A is a Swedish fighter aircraft with an unusual pusher propeller and twin tails, developed during World War II. The kit features detailed plastic parts, a realistic cockpit and decals for the Swedish Air Force machines. Package does not include paint or glue needed for assembly.
The SAAB J-21A was a revolutionary Swedish fighter aircraft with an unusual design, where the engine with a pusher propeller was located behind the cockpit and the tail surfaces carried a double spar. The aircraft was developed during World War II as a domestic alternative to foreign machines that were not readily available to neutral Sweden. The first prototype flew in 1943 and the machine was inducted into the armament in 1945.
The J-21A was equipped with a 12-cylinder Daimler-Benz engine and was capable of carrying both guns and machine guns. Due to its unconventional design, it was also equipped with an ejection seat - one of the first of its kind in propeller-driven aircraft. Although the J-21A was relatively quickly replaced by the J-21R jet version, it played an important role in the development of the Swedish Air Force.
The Special Hobby 1/72 SAAB J-21A offers a faithful rendition of this technically interesting design. The detailed fuselage, wings, cockpit and undercarriage all match the real aircraft, while the decals include the markings of the Swedish Air Force in the post-war period.
The model is ideal for lovers of unusual aircraft construction and Scandinavian aviation technology.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
