1/72 P-40M Warhawk ‘Involuntarily from Russia to Finland’
Special Hobby's 1/72nd scale model of the P-40M Warhawk 'Involuntarily from Russia to Finland' represents an American fighter aircraft in the service of the Soviet Air Force that fell into Finnish hands after an emergency landing. The kit includes detailed plastic parts and decals for both Soviet and captured Finnish livery. The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
The Curtiss P-40M Warhawk was one of the later versions of the famous American fighteraircraft that became a common sight among Allied air forces around the world during World War II. This variant was delivered to the Soviet Union under the Lend-Lease program and served mainly on the northern front in difficult climatic conditions.
One of these machines, after a navigational error or technical failure, made it to Finnish territory, where it was intercepted and incorporated into the armament of the Finnish Air Force. The aircraft was repainted and used for testing as well as for training and promotional flights. This curious story illustrates how aircraft could have made it to the other side of the front and continued active service under a different flag.
The Special Hobby 1/72 P-40M Warhawk 'Involuntarily from Russia to Finland' model captures this unique historical case. The kit offers a realistic rendition of the fuselage, wing, cockpit and landing gear, including the distinctive details of the M version. Decals for both Soviet and Finnish livery are included, including authentic markings and camouflage.
The model is an ideal choice for collectors of unusual Allied stories and machines in colours other than those of the original operators.
The package does not include the paint or adhesives needed for assembly.
