The Fairey Fulmar Mk.II was an improved version of the two-seat fighter aircraft developed for the Fleet Air Arm - the air force of the British Navy. The aircraft was designed for operations from aircraft carriers and combined endurance with armament and navigation capability through the presence of a radio operator/navigator. The Mk.II version was fitted with a more powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin 30 engine and improved avionics.
In addition to day missions, some of the machines were converted to the NF Mk.II night fighter variant, which was equipped with a radar system and modified armament. These machines operated, for example, in the defence of convoys and against German night raids.
