1/72 F-82H Twin Mustang "Alaskan All Weather Fight
The F-82H Twin Mustang 1/72nd scale kit is a detailed model of this high-performance fighter aircraft.of this remarkable aircraft, which formed the backbone of Alaskan air defense during the early Cold War.
The North American F-82 Twin Mustang was a twin-engine fighter aircraft developed at the end of World War II as a long-range escort fighter. Although it became famous for its involvement in the Korean conflict, it also played a significant role in the United States, particularly in Alaska. With the threat of Soviet bombers carrying atomic weapons, the need for reliable all-weather fighter aircraft was urgent. Therefore, the F-82F and F-82G versions were modified for operation in the harsh conditions of Alaska and designated the F-82H.
These aircraft served with the 449th Fighter Squadron (All-Weather) stationed at bases such as Adak Island and later Ladd AFB. The F-82H was ideal for Alaskan conditions due to its long range and ability to operate in theweather, providing protection against potential Soviet attacks across the Arctic.
This kit includes four injection molded frames, injection molded cockpits, detailed resin parts and etched accessories. The decals offer four variations of the Alaskan machines: two in black and two in Alaskan anti-camouflage, a metallic color with red wingtips and tail surfaces. Two of the machines have additional tanks decorated with drawings of bald eagle heads, which adds to the attractiveness of the model.
Modelers will appreciate not only the historical significance of the F-82H Twin Mustang, but also the choice of colorful camouflages and the detailed craftsmanship of the kit, which faithfully captures the unique look of this aircraft.
