The Douglas DB-8A/3N was an export version of the American Northrop A-17, which was delivered to the Dutch Air Force (Luchtvaartafdeling) just before the start of World War II. The aircraft was intended as a light bomber and attack aircraft, but due to the rapid development of the air force in Europe, it was already obsolete by the time of the German invasion in May 1940.
Despite the numerical and technological superiority of the Luftwaffe, Dutch pilots bravely resisted with these machines. The DB-8A/3N took part in several desperate raids on advancing German troops, and their crews often fought until their aircraft were completely destroyed - hence the designation "Outnumbered and Fearless".
The Special Hobby 1/72 DB-8A/3N 'Outnumbered and Fearless' model delivers an accurate kit with finely detailed fuselage, wings, landing gear and interior. The kit includes decals for the Dutch machines, capturing the atmosphere of the dramatic fighting in the early days of the war in Europe.
The model is an ideal choice for those interested in the lesser-known aircraft of World War II and the defense of smaller nations against Nazi aggression.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
