The T-55AMD is a modernized version of the Soviet T-55 medium tank, equipped with the Drozd active protection system. The Drozd system was developed in the 1970s as the world's first operational active protection system, designed to protect tanks from anti-tank missiles and RPGs. It uses 24.5GHz Doppler radar to detect incoming projectiles and, if threatened, fires a 107mm projectile to destroy the threat before it reaches the tank.
