The T-55A Mod. 1981 version represents a late modification of a proven Soviet tank that remained in the armament of many Warsaw Pact states and the developing world well into the 1980s and 1990s. Modifications included, in particular, new sighting devices, additional armour, mine holders and external equipment that increased the tactical flexibility of the machine.
