The M3 Stuart, known in the British Army as the Stuart Mk.I "Honey", was one of the first American tanks delivered under the Lend-Lease program. Its reliability, speed and easy handling made it a favourite of British crews, who nicknamed it "Honey". In the North African campaign, it was deployed primarily against German and Italian troops, where its 37mm cannonand light armour meant that in direct engagement with enemy tanks it often had no advantage. The British therefore exploited its high mobility for quick strikes and movement.
One tactical measure British troops took was to camouflage tanks with Sun Shields, which to confuse enemy aircraft and reconnaissance by making the tanks visually resemble ordinary trucks. This camouflage was used particularly in operations in open desert areas where surprise attack capability was crucial.
The MiniArt 1/35 Stuart Mk.I "Honey" Early Prod. w/Sun Shields kit offers precision crafted plastic parts with realistic interior and turret. Includes photo-etched parts for maximum level of detail and the option to build the model with sun shields that to create the unique desert camouflage used by British troops in North Africa. Movable tracks and undercarriage give the model a realistic appearance and allow the model to be assembled in a variety of configurations.
The high level of detail and the ability to build unusual camouflage configurations make this model ideal for for modellers interested in British armoured vehicles and the desert campaigns of World War II.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
