The two-axle Ommr railcar was one of the most common platform cars of World War II and was widely used throughout Europe. With a load capacity of up to 25 tonnes, it could carry military vehicles, light tanks and heavier equipment, from motorcycles and Kübelwagen vehicles to Pz.Kpfw tanks. IV and 18-ton semi-axle transporters.

In addition, the Ommr vehicles served as a basic platform for conversion to various rail versions such as the Gondola, Flakwagen and other simply armoured variants.
