Westland Whirlwind FB Mk.I 'Fighter-Bomber' Hi-Tech Kit in 1/32 scale by Special Hobby captures the unique British twin-engine fighterfighter-bomber that was one of the RAF's most advanced aircraft at the start of World War II. The Whirlwind was the first British aircraft to be armed with a quartet of 20mm Hispano Mk.II cannons, giving it extremely powerful firepower in combat against enemy aircraft and in attacks on ground targets.
The FB Mk.I was modified for fighter-bomber operations and could carry bombs, making it an effective tool for strikes on German convoys, airfields and other strategic targets in occupied Europe. The aircraft was agile and had high speed, but its operation was complicated by the limited availability of Rolls-Royce Peregrine engines, resulting in the production of only 114 examples. Despite this, the Whirlwind found use in a number of successful missions until 1943, when it was gradually replaced by other types such as the Hawker Typhoon.
The model in the HI-TECH edition features a detailed cockpit interior, accurately reproduced engines and armament, making it possible to create an authentic replica of this lesser-known but technologically advanced British aircraft. An ideal choice for modelers interested in WWII twin-engine fighter and attack aircraft.
Package does not include paint or glue needed for assembly.
