1/48 L-4 Grasshopper ‘From Africa to Central Europe’
Special Hobby's 1/48th scale model of the L-4 Grasshopper 'From Africa to Central Europe' is an American WWII light observation and reconnaissance aircraft, deployed from the North African campaign to the fighting in Europe. The kit includes detailed plastic parts and decals for multiple Allied versions. Package does not include paint or glue needed for assembly.
The Piper L-4 Grasshopper was a military version of the civilian Piper J-3 Cub and became one of the most versatile Allied aircraft during World War II. Due to its simplicity, lightness, and ability to operate from short unpaved areas, it served as an observation, liaison, and light transport aircraft, often directly on the front lines.
L-4s were deployed in a number of major campaigns, from the North African campaign, to the invasions of Sicily and Italy, to the Normandy landings and the final battles in Central Europe. L-4 crews often operated in dangerous conditions without defensive armament, but with the crucial task of coordinating artillery fire and reconnaissance.
Special Hobby's 1/48 L-4 Grasshopper 'From Africa to Central Europe' kit provides a detailed kit with accurate renderings of the fuselage, wings, interior and landing gear. Included in the kit are decals for machines deployed in different geographical regions of Europe and Africa, allowing the aircraft to be built in a historically accurate context.
The model is ideal for fans of Allied aircraft, reconnaissance aircraft and WWII support types.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
