Valom 's 1/144th scale model of the Pfalz D.III (Double Set) offers a precise rendering of one of the main German fighter aircraft of WWI. Developed by Pfalz Flugzeugwerke, the Pfalz D.III was deployed in 1917 as an alternative to the then dominant D.V Albatros and soon gained a reputation for its robust construction and good aerodynamics.
The aircraft was powered by an inline six-cylinder Mercedes D.III engine and armed with two Spandau LMG 08/15 synchronized machine guns. Although it had a lower climb rate than competing machines, it was very popular for its strength and its ability to dive quickly, which allowed it to make effective evasive manoeuvres.
